THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Separate patient and companion costs.
- Confirm age and expected nights.
- Itemise the bed and meals.
Distinguish the situations
The reviewed Allianz Saúde terms provide defined companion services for children under 12. This is a product provision, not a universal insurance rule.

Fictional example
Fictional example: Helena's daughter has a planned procedure. The estimate lists surgery on one line and an additional bed on another, without identifying meals. Helena asks which services are available and which are included in the insurer's response. If another relative takes over from her, she checks how the stay is recorded. She does not assume two companions will have identical authorised use.
Put the distinction to work
Before choosing extras, compare the child's age, expected nights, bed and meals actually provided by the hospital. If the stay changes, request an updated explanation. Parking and travel expenses need separate questions; do not assume they form part of the companion's daily charge. Use the health insurance guide to prepare hospitalisation and family accompaniment questions with RMACHADO GROUP, based on the relevant policy and estimate.
