THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Confirm the benefit and period.
- Separate the limit from transactions.
- Ask about amounts still being processed.
A limit needs a time reference
The Médis terms reviewed define the insured amount by claim or insurance year, depending on the contract. This illustrates why an isolated figure is insufficient: the applicable rule matters. In your policy, identify the benefit, reference period and document setting the limit, without assuming that every period follows the calendar year.

Frame the question using actual dates
Fictional example: Sara sees two transactions at the end of October and a renewal planned for November. Instead of assuming the displayed balance applies to her next appointment, she notes when she checked the app, the benefit selected and the transaction dates. She asks the responsible entity how amounts still being assessed are treated. Her list contains no diagnoses or clinical interpretations. It is intended to clarify the administrative record and prevent a comparison between figures belonging to different periods.
Compare the renewal on a separate sheet
Keep the current position on one side and the next insurance year's documents on the other. Record the proposed limit, its conditions and when they would apply. Do not assume that changing options automatically carries previous conditions into the new arrangement; request an answer for the actual change being considered. Leave any unresolved amount visibly pending. This is more useful than presenting an estimate as a confirmed balance or anticipating reimbursement that has not been assessed. Keep both versions available until the differences are clear.
Turn the statement into clear questions
Use the health insurance guide and ask RMACHADO GROUP for help reading the renewal documents. Identify the benefit and period concerned, using the appropriate channel whenever personal documents are needed.
