THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Separate timing from your share of costs.
- Check each term in the actual quotation.
- Compare the same service and payment arrangement.
Start with the timing question
Multicare’s glossary describes a waiting period as an interval after the contract starts during which a particular cover does not yet take effect. This is a reference definition from that insurer; check how the proposal identifies relevant covers and periods.
Write down the service and condition you are asking about. An answer concerning consultations does not automatically resolve a question about another benefit. Do not use an insurance comparison to postpone necessary medical care.
Then clarify your share of the bill
The glossary consulted groups coparticipation and excess as the insured person's share of an expense. Labels and calculations may differ between proposals. Ask whether the figure applies per use, per period or as a percentage, and whether it concerns network care or reimbursement.
Do not combine figures from unrelated columns yourself. Request an explanation using the same situation: what you would pay the provider, what might be reimbursed and which conditions would still have to be met.
Prepare a comparable example
Fictional example: Inês highlights a consultation in one proposal while Rui marks a percentage in another. Before comparing them, they discover that one column concerns network use and the other reimbursement. Their first task becomes obtaining equivalent information.
Make three private rows: when cover takes effect, your share of costs and the applicable limit. Keep the answers with the quotation version. Visit Health Insurance on rmachado.group to prepare a request. Keep clinical information and documents out of public comments.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
- Identify the service.
- Distinguish network use and reimbursement.
- Clarify timing and costs.
- Keep the explained version.
