THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Separate car and structure.
- Record position and damage.
- Inform the relevant parties.
Identify who owns each damaged item
MAPFRE presents liability and collision or impact protection as distinct benefits. In that product example, damage to the insured vehicle depends on the relevant cover purchased. When assessing the occurrence, separate your car repair from damage to the pillar and identify the relevant conditions applying to each benefit.

Describe the accident without inventing another party
Fictional example: Beatriz catches a pillar while parking, damaging her bumper and the pillar’s finish. She records the position and time and informs the building administrator. Her report states that no other vehicle was involved. Damage to the building does not automatically turn the car repair into a liability payment.
Prepare two separate lines of assessment
List each damaged item, its owner and any available estimate. Check the vehicle excess and assessment procedure before repairs. Do not choose a benefit solely from the package’s marketing name. Use RMACHADO GROUP’s motor guide to compare liability protection with cover for your own vehicle against your actual needs and circumstances.
