THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Separate driver, passengers and third parties.
- Read benefits for each person.
- Do not add amounts without confirmation.
Start with compulsory liability
The ASF explains that compulsory motor liability covers bodily injury and property damage caused to third parties, including passengers. It does not cover injuries to the driver responsible for the accident. Protection for that driver's own injuries therefore deserves a separate question when reviewing a quotation.

Read a hypothetical accident person by person
Fictional example: Rui drives and Marta travels in the passenger seat. While preparing a quotation, Rui asks which benefits would be relevant to each of them in an accident for which he was responsible. He is not reporting an actual claim or deciding compensation. He is checking whether he understands the proposal. In the answer, he distinguishes treatment expenses, death or disability benefits and exclusions instead of relying on a brief statement that occupants are included.
Request a short map with references
Create three rows: driver, passengers and third parties. For each row, record the cover's name and the page explaining it. Add limits and unanswered questions. If an amount is shared between several people, ask for clarification. If the documents use different labels, request a written explanation linking them. Avoid adding figures shown in separate sales panels without establishing whether they can be paid together. Keep the original quotation date visible so that a later amendment does not accidentally replace the comparison's evidence.
Bring the question into your comparison
Read the motor insurance guide and ask RMACHADO GROUP to compare driver and passenger protection in the actual options being considered. A clear explanation should be traceable to the policy documents.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
- Identify drivers and people carried.
- Find the personal protection sections.
- Check amounts and limits.
- Keep the answer and quotation version.
