THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Sending a technician and paying for repairs are different services.
- Check the equipment, costs and procedure under the benefit purchased.
- An intervention arranged outside the assistance service may not meet its conditions.
A benefit may pay only for the call-out
In the February 2022 Allianz Casa conditions, benefit 10 provides a technician's call-out to inspect and quote for specified appliances, excluding repair and labour. This is a contractual example: find the benefit actually included in your policy.
Turn the service label into specific questions. Which appliance is identified? How many uses are allowed? Which costs require your agreement? The answers should let you decide whether to request a visit or proceed with work involving your own expenditure.

Break down the quotation before authorising work
Ask for separate lines for the call-out, inspection or diagnosis, parts, labour and any additional services. Confirm which amounts the arranged service includes and which require your agreement. An authorised visit is not automatic authorisation for every part of a repair quotation.
Fictional example: a quotation lists €40 for the call-out, €30 for inspection, €180 for parts and €90 for labour. These amounts are illustrative only. 'We will send a technician' does not determine which lines the service will pay. The answer must come from the applicable terms and confirmation received.

The way assistance is requested also matters
The Allianz example requires a request through assistance or its agreement, subject to the contractual exceptions. Check the procedure before hiring a repairer directly. A later invoice must be read in the context of the request that was authorised.
Before the visit, use the contact in the current documents, identify the appliance and describe what you observed. Keep the request reference and cost information. Do not dismantle equipment or attempt dangerous work to obtain an insurance classification for the fault.

Compare useful protection for your home
List the appliances you want considered, who owns them and any existing assistance services. A commercial warranty or maintenance contract may involve other entities and terms; do not assume the same invoice will be paid by more than one entity.
When requesting a quotation from RMACHADO, explain whether you need assistance arrangements, protection for physical damage or another specific service. Ask the comparison to identify services, equipment, limits and costs you must pay. The reviewed document explains the distinction between services without confirming cover for your breakdown.
