Practical guide · Everyday insurance

A client falls. A service contains an error. Which question changes?

The label “liability insurance” can seem to settle the question. An accident during a visit and an allegation of an error in a delivered service are different accounts, however. A useful request describes both the work performed and what the client is alleging.

THE ESSENTIALS

Before you start

  • Business and professional liability are distinct categories.
  • Describe actual activities rather than a broad label.
  • A complaint does not establish liability or cover.

Read the two categories carefully

Fidelidade’s documentation separates Business Liability and Professional Liability and organises records by activity. That distinction supports requesting documents corresponding to the work actually performed.

The existence of these categories does not decide whether an event is covered. Scope, insured persons and the specific proposal conditions still need examination.

Two accounts without premature conclusions

Fictional example: Sara receives a client at her office. In one scenario, the visitor reports falling on the premises. In another, the client disputes an error in delivered work and requests compensation. Sara records the facts separately.

For the first she describes the location, circumstances and observed damage. For the second she identifies the service, delivery and allegation. She does not decide who is right or classify a loss solely from wording in a message.

Put a precise question to the intermediary

Present both scenarios and ask which proposal sections might be relevant to assessment, what information is missing and which situations are excluded. Request clause references rather than a guarantee for an incomplete case.

Describe the business itself too: tasks, locations and people involved. List different activities where necessary. A short, concrete description is more useful than selecting a broad label merely to complete the request.

Keep the comparison basis consistent

Retain one version of the activity description and use it for each proposal. If a task is corrected or added, identify the change. Answers should not appear directly comparable when they address different information.

At rmachado.group, prepare a Liability request describing the current circumstances. An existing claim should follow the applicable notification channel and instructions. Keep client information out of social media discussions.

KEEP THESE QUESTIONS

Your checklist for the next conversation

  • Describe actual activities.
  • Separate different events.
  • Request clause references.
  • Compare using one description.
