THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Separate visible effects, investigation and work at the source.
- One cover may depend on another being selected.
- Describe observations without guessing the cause.
Why do the covers have different names?
The Lusitania Condominium solution lists Water Damage and Fault Investigation separately. Investigation depends on Water Damage being selected and on an event qualifying under that cover.
This is a contractual relationship in a particular product, not confirmation for every leak. A similar word on an estimate does not establish that an expense meets the insurance conditions.
An itemised estimate creates a better question
Fictional example: André receives a €1,200 estimate to “resolve the stain”. He asks the contractor to separate locating the source, accessing the pipe, work on the pipe and restoring finishes. He does not ask for the description to be changed to fit insurance.
The breakdown helps him ask the insurer which work and records are needed to assess each item. It does not mean that all four will be paid or that liability has already been established.
Separate known facts from unanswered questions
A photograph shows a stain; it does not independently prove the source or who is responsible. Record when the problem was observed, its location and known development. Describe a diagnosis as such only when one exists.
Ask for the applicable claim and intervention instructions. Steps needed to prevent further damage should use the appropriate channels rather than wait for a social media comment response.
Keep a traceable documentary record
Retain itemised estimates, available reports and communication references. If a decision is received, link it to the expenses assessed and the relevant policy version. Do not extend it to work that was not considered.
For questions about preparing condominium insurance, use rmachado.group. An existing incident should follow the claims channel identified in the contract. This keeps the new insurance request separate from the handling of an actual event.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
- Record observations and dates.
- Separate the estimate items.
- Request claim instructions.
- Link decisions to assessed expenses.

Let us discuss your situation
Tell us what you want to protect. We review your request and help compare relevant terms. Requesting a quotation does not activate insurance.
