THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- A programme identified by an insurer is different from any commercial app.
- Enrolment may involve a prescription, prior authorisation and assessment.
- Clinical suitability and payment conditions require separate answers.
Identify the programme and provider, beyond the word digital
Multicare’s current page describes a SWORD digital physiotherapy programme for customers with the specific cover. Its process involves registration, prior authorisation requested by the provider and physiotherapist assessment based on a prescription. A device is sent to the home. This illustrates that service, without recommending the product or guaranteeing another policy.
Marta writes the programme’s name beside the quotation item. On another line she records an app she found independently. Clara keeps the lines separate: a personal purchase should not be presented as enrolment in the programme described by the insurer. A useful question names the exact service and who arranges it.
An available appointment does not confirm insurance payment
Clínica Médis explains that physiotherapy appointments can be booked with or without insurance. Booking and the insurer’s assessment of the expense are therefore separate questions. The provider’s information does not establish a particular contract’s contribution or the operation of another digital programme.
Before committing to a planned expense, request a response identifying the service and your own charges. Ask whether digital and in-person sessions use the same benefit, which document establishes this and how usage can be checked. This guide does not assert a shared limit, copayment or session allowance: the public description read does not provide those answers.
Check the enrolment process before buying a subscription
For preparation, retain the quotation document, programme name and administrative response. Distinguish a submitted request, a pending assessment and received authorisation. If someone suggests a different app, equipment purchase or alternative provider, describe that change before assuming the previous response covers it too.
Do not post prescriptions, reports or exercise photographs in comments to clarify insurance. Ask for the appropriate private channel and the minimum necessary information. A form accepting a file does not justify sending an entire clinical record.
The treatment format remains a clinical decision
Marta and Clara are comparing documents, not recommending remote physiotherapy to a patient. The need for treatment, remote or in-person delivery and session progression belong with qualified professionals. Do not change or postpone necessary care based on an insurance service list.
For a current policy, use Support and claims to organise the contractual question. To compare new protection, select Health in Request a quote and say that you want to clarify this service. A new quotation neither authorises nor guarantees payment for an ongoing treatment.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
- Identify the programme, provider and specific benefit.
- Check the process and retain the response.
- Ask about charges and interaction with in-person sessions.
- Leave clinical decisions with qualified professionals.
