THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Additional capital, an advance, reimbursement and a service are different descriptions.
- Check the cover against the actual plan and policy.
- The request process and required information need their own explanation.
A public example explains the distinction, not your policy
The current MAPFRE Vida page describes funeral expenses as an advance of capital additional to the death benefit, without requiring an invoice. Its plan table shows the cover as optional in Vida Essencial. This is one product example, not a recommendation or a rule shared by all life policies.
D. Graça checks the plan and terms of her own policy before using that description. Clara asks her not to copy the answer to a different policy or treat an available option as cover already selected. The applicable pre-contractual and contractual information still needs to be read.
Do not add or subtract amounts because of a label
Prepare four questions: is the amount additional to the main benefit, an advance from it, expense reimbursement or an arranged service? Who can request and receive it? How does it affect other benefits? What establishes that the cover was purchased?
The family may need to organise payments while a request is assessed. An explanation of the procedure is therefore more useful than writing immediate cash in a note. A contractual advance does not establish that a transfer has been ordered or received.
No invoice does not mean no information for the request
In that public example, the absence of an invoice requirement concerns the description of the funeral benefit. It does not establish that anyone can receive the capital without identification or assessment. Ask for the applicable requirements, recipient and submission channel rather than inventing a universal document list.
D. Graça keeps the policy reference and received instructions in a note for the person who will handle the matter. Clara helps flag questions and update the note when a reply arrives. Personal or medical documents should not accompany a question in public comments.
Preparing a question is different from giving an instruction
For questions about an existing policy, use Policy support and claims at RMACHADO. To consider future protection, select Life under Request a quotation and describe the purpose without exposing sensitive information in public text. A quotation neither activates insurance nor confirms a benefit.
Clara leaves four checks for the next conversation. The example decides no recipient in an actual death claim, promises no payment deadline and recommends no plan or insurer.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
- Identify the benefit type and its relationship with the main capital.
- Check cover and plan against the actual policy.
- Clarify recipient, information and request procedure.
- Keep clear instructions without assuming cash is already available.
