Changed the date or hospital: does the authorisation still fit?

Receiving authorisation and later changing an appointment are two separate events. If the date, provider or originally planned procedure changes, compare the reply with the new arrangement and request guidance. Do not assume that an earlier decision automatically covers everything that has since been changed.

THE ESSENTIALS

Before you start

  • Compare the booking with the insurer's reply.
  • Identify exactly what changed.
  • Request confirmation for the new arrangement.

The request identifies a particular arrangement

Médis explains in its FAQs that a customer-submitted request includes the date, location and medical referral, with status tracking available in the customer area. That procedure illustrates why the request's details matter. How to update a change must be checked for the particular product and case concerned.

Compare before submitting again

Fictional example: Clara received an answer concerning a procedure at one facility, but the appointment has moved to another. She places the original reply beside the provider's new information. She records the differences needed for her enquiry: facility, date and request reference. Through the specified channel, she asks whether to update the existing case or begin another. She avoids creating several identical requests while waiting for guidance, because duplicates would make it harder to identify which answer applies to the current appointment.

Read the scope, not just the approved label

When a new reply arrives, check which appointment it refers to and what remains unresolved. Keep its reference and version without deleting the previous answer. If the provider describes different conditions, ask for the difference to be reconciled with the insurer before considering the administration complete. Administrative organisation should not replace clinical advice or delay urgent healthcare. Medical documents belong in the appropriate channel, limited to what the assessment requires. A short list of changes can make the enquiry easier to follow without reproducing the entire medical history.

Prepare the next administrative step

Read the health insurance guide and ask RMACHADO GROUP for help organising the enquiry. Identify what changed and the existing reference without exposing clinical details in public messages or comment threads.
