Home assistance and reporting damage: what should you prepare?

A fault appears and you need help. Before assuming a technician’s visit also completes insurance reporting, clarify which service you are requesting and how the event is recorded. The two tasks can serve different purposes.

THE ESSENTIALS

Before you start

  • Identify the requested service.
  • Clarify costs.
  • Keep references and receipts.

Identify the service and costs

Fidelidade’s Home Insurance page presents an assistance service and guidance on reporting a claim. This identifies two points to clarify in your own process: the service requested and the damage report. It does not establish that every intervention cost is included.

For your own policy, check the appropriate contact, service available and costs needing clarification. Arranging a visit does not mean every repair, material or resulting loss will be paid.

Prepare a short factual description

Fictional example: Inês reports a fault while Rui asks whether a damage file has also been opened. They retain the call reference and clarify what was recorded instead of repeating the request across several channels.

They note the relevant location, when the problem was noticed and what they observed. If the cause is unknown, they say so. They do not dismantle equipment or delay safety measures to obtain more complete photographs. Immediate safety concerns need the appropriate response.

Clarify what remains after assistance

Ask whether separate reporting is required, which records to retain and what procedure and deadline apply. Keep expense receipts without concluding that reimbursement is agreed before assessment.

An assistance reference, invoice and decision about damage have different functions. Organise them and confirm the next step with the intermediary or insurer. Visit Home Insurance on rmachado.group to prepare questions. Personal information and documents should use the indicated channel, never public comments.

KEEP THESE QUESTIONS

Your checklist for the next conversation

  • Identify the requested service.
  • Clarify costs.
  • Keep references and receipts.
  • Confirm reporting and the next step.

Tell us what you want to protect. We review your request and help compare relevant terms. Requesting a quotation does not activate insurance.
