THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- The policy may describe circumstances beyond forced entry.
- An unexplained disappearance, a loss and covered theft are not interchangeable.
- Describe facts and preserve evidence without choosing a convenient cause.
Read the circumstances in the contractual example
The Theft or Robbery section of Allianz Casa conditions 2050, dated February 2022, includes circumstances such as climbing into the premises, false keys, violence or threats. It provides its own false-key definition and associated conditions. This is an example available on the insurer's portal, rather than a rule for every policy.

A lack of forced entry does not settle the assessment
The same document excludes disappearances, losses, misplacement and theft outside the described circumstances. Merely calling a missing object stolen is insufficient. Equally, the absence of a damaged lock cannot support an automatic conclusion without checking the other specified circumstances.

Build a factual timeline of what you can establish
As a practical method, note when you last saw the item, when you noticed it missing and what you observed at access points. Separate observation from hypothesis: finding a door open is an observation; how someone may have entered can remain unknown. Identify available records or evidence without altering the original information.
Fictional example: a person cannot find a computer at home and sees no door damage. They record what they know, preserve available evidence and follow instructions from the authorities and insurer. They do not report false-key use simply because they found that phrase in the policy.
Keep images of access points, absence routines, documents and accusations against identified people out of public comments. Confirm the appropriate channel and necessary information for assessment. Where people face immediate danger, obtaining suitable emergency help takes priority.
Compare the property, location and limits as well
Before contracting, describe the property you wish to protect and ask about outbuildings, storage rooms, cash and valuables. Request that each answer be linked to the relevant benefit and limit in the proposal. Do not assume the total contents sum insured answers every property-category question.
Select Home when requesting a new RMACHADO quote. If an item has already been taken, use policy support and the applicable claim-notification process. A new insurance quotation does not cover the event retrospectively or replace claim assessment.
