THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Separate personal intention and recorded designation.
- Check identification and the amendment procedure.
- Retain evidence of an accepted change.
Give the record its own review
Fidelidade states that, without a designated death beneficiary, the capital is paid to the insured person’s heirs. It also highlights communication and payment problems where identification is absent or incorrect.
This information does not choose beneficiaries for anyone. The wording and individual circumstances need examination before concluding who receives a benefit or how a designation can be changed.

Obtain the current record first
Fictional example: Helena believes that updating contact details also updated beneficiaries. While organising her policy, she finds only confirmation of a new email address. She requests the current designation and the procedure for any proposed change.
This discovery does not establish that the designation is wrong. It shows that two different matters were being treated as one. Helena separates them and leaves her personal decision until she understands what is actually recorded.
Keep three different stages separate
A prepared instruction, an acknowledged request and a confirmed amendment are different stages. Note the request reference and actual status. If confirmation arrives, retain it with the document it concerns.
Where several people, percentages or specific conditions are involved, ask for an explanation of the applicable wording. Do not complete a clause from memory or assume a form from another policy serves the same purpose.
Review privately and without rushing
Do not publish names, relationships, identity records or financial details in social comments. Use the appropriate channel and ask which information is necessary. Avoid sending extra documents without instructions.
At rmachado.group you can initiate a Life insurance enquiry. This proposed documentary review does not replace succession advice or make the personal decision about whom to designate.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
