Reviewing family liability insurance? Start with changes at home

Reviewing insurance does not have to start with last year's price. Begin by writing down changes in the household and the situations you want clarified. Family liability insurance deserves a concrete discussion about people, scope and terms, without assuming the product name answers every question.

THE ESSENTIALS

Before you start

  • Identify changes before comparing proposals.
  • Ask who and which situations are included.
  • Distinguish a requested review from automatic annual contact.

A product example helps formulate questions

Fidelidade's official Family Liability presentation distinguishes the household and lists optional extensions. This is a product example: your policy's composition and options need clarification in its own documents.

Do not copy an advertising list into your circumstances as if it confirmed cover. Use it to ask who is identified and what has actually been contracted.

In Fidelidade’s example, the page distinguishes options such as pets not living with the household, use of non-motorised bicycles and an owner-occupied home. The list shows that the person included, cause of damage and option purchased are different questions.

Prepare a list of changes

Consider household members and private-life situations you have questions about. If a new activity raises a question, describe it to the intermediary and ask for it to be distinguished from other uses or contexts.

Do not post names, addresses or family details in a comment. Organise questions for the appropriate channel and share only what the request needs.

An example of a useful discussion

In a fictional example, Rui was about to ask for 'the same as last year'. Inês remembers their routine has changed and prefers to ask which details need updating first. They list these before requesting a comparison.

They do not need to decide alone whether a situation is covered. They need to explain the change clearly and ask for the relevant policy reference.

Compare the proposal with current circumstances

Ask for an explanation of the people included, territorial scope, limits and options relevant to your questions. Record what has been confirmed and what still needs clarification.

A reply about an earlier policy should not be presented as an automatic answer about a new proposal. Identify the version and date of the documents being compared.

Requesting a review and choosing future contact

On the RMACHADO form, your current request and the option to receive a new proposal the following year are handled separately. If you want that future contact, specify your choice, date and channel as requested in the form. That option does not replace the renewal review you are requesting now.

Visit Family Liability on rmachado.group and submit your request through the website. A quotation does not confirm cover, renewal or an effective start; clarify those conditions before relying on protection.

KEEP THESE QUESTIONS

Your checklist for the next conversation

  • Note household and routine changes.
  • List situations raising questions.
  • Clarify the people included and options.
  • Compare current scope, limits and terms.
  • Keep replies with the proposal version.
  • Handle any future contact request separately.
