GETTING STARTED
Three points to consider
- Confirm who belongs to the protected household.
- Clarify the treatment of children, the home and private activities.
- Compare the sum insured, excess, territory and exclusions.
Who belongs to the household covered?
Read the definition of insured persons in the quotation. Clarify the position of a spouse or partner, children and other people living with you, including temporary residence arrangements.
The insurance addresses liability for harm to others in specified situations. Identifying the household does not mean every event in private life is automatically covered.
Private life and professional activity
Describe the risk context. An event connected to work, a vehicle or an activity requiring its own insurance may need different protection.
Compare property damage and bodily injury, defence costs, territory and excess. Check how property entrusted to you, borrowed or belonging to people close to you is treated.
Example: an item damaged during a visit
Damage caused in someone else’s home raises questions about who caused it, who owned the item and the circumstances. Damage alone does not demonstrate insured liability. Keep the information and report it as required by the policy.
A question to clarify before deciding
Are the relevant territory, people and animals included in the terms?
The product examples mentioned in the frequently asked questions illustrate possible differences. They are not an offer from RMACHADO and do not show that a particular cover is included in your policy. Availability, acceptance and terms must be confirmed in the specific quotation.
What to compare in a quotation
Use these questions to clarify differences that could affect your decision.
| Comparison point | Question to clarify |
|---|---|
| People | Who is included in the household definition? |
| Third parties | Who counts as a third party under the contract? |
| Scope | Which private activities are excluded? |
Frequently asked questions
Could it already be included in multi-risk insurance?
A home policy may include liability cover. Compare its scope before taking out an additional arrangement.
Does it cover damage to my own belongings?
Liability insurance focuses on harm to others. Your belongings need a separate assessment, for example through multi-risk insurance.
Can domestic employees be included?
The offer consulted includes them. Check the people covered and the conditions for work on behalf of the household.
Is territorial scope the same in every option?
Fidelidade’s information distinguishes Portugal from territorial extensions. Confirm where the proposed protection applies.
Do animals that do not live with me need special attention?
In the Fidelidade example consulted, this is an optional extension. Do not assume inclusion.
THE NEXT STEP
A review starts with your details.
Prepare the request, check the summary and submit it when correct. A record is created only after final submission; the request does not activate insurance.
