At annual review, is the premium the only figure?

Two proposals may fit on the same screen while addressing different needs. Before sorting by price, check the period, scope and costs. A comparison table makes differences visible; it does not automatically select the cheapest option.

THE ESSENTIALS

Before you start

  • Compare the same period and circumstances.
  • Relate price to the actual scope.
  • Separate confirmed differences from unanswered questions.

Put the period beside the price

Record the period each price concerns and the payment arrangement. The Allianz Auto conditions consulted allow an annual premium to be split by agreement. This is a contractual example: an instalment should not be directly compared with an annual price.

State any assumptions used in a calculation. Multiplying a payment by twelve is useful only where the number of instalments and other applicable charges are confirmed. Leave the item unresolved if those facts are missing.

Give each column a purpose

Fictional example: Inês enters two annual prices. Rui adds that one proposal has a different excess and the other describes a different limit. Price is no longer the only visible difference.

Create columns for cover, sum insured or limit, excess, period and question. Copy names carefully. Similar cover names should not be treated as equivalent without an explanation supported by the documents.

Compare after clarifying

Ask for answers about differences relevant to your circumstances. A blank column does not mean no limit or exclusion applies: the information may simply not have been located. Identify each document’s date and version.

Keep the comparison and confirmed answers for the next review. This exercise is not a product recommendation or a promise of savings. To prepare an updated request, visit rmachado.group and select the insurance you want considered. Do not publish personal documents to seek opinions in a group.

KEEP THESE QUESTIONS

Your checklist for the next conversation

  • Identify scope and costs.
  • Clarify differences.
  • Keep the compared version.
