THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- The works price does not describe everything already on site.
- Works damage and liability to neighbours are different functions.
- An advertised optional benefit needs confirmation in the proposal.
Three lists illustrated by one public offer
BPI's Allianz Obras e Montagens presentation separates property under construction or assembly from optional existing-property damage and non-contractual liability cover. This product structure does not automatically include every shop asset or every loss affecting neighbours.

List what changes and what remains
First describe planned works and property to be incorporated. Second identify existing elements remaining on site, such as installations and equipment, their ownership and any relocation. Do not copy the quotation total into both lists as though they represent the same assets.
Fictional example: a shop replaces a counter and changes pipework while keeping display cabinets and refrigeration equipment. The new-works price does not explain the retained equipment's value or consequences of damage. The owner prepares a separate description without assuming insurance would pay for a breakdown.
Add the relationship with other people and spaces
Third list neighbouring spaces and planned interference, including common access and work near shared installations. Describe who performs each phase and the participating entities. The location of damage alone does not assign responsibility to the owner, contractor or condominium.
Request explanations of scope for third parties and property in someone's custody or control. Another participant's certificate is not evidence that every project need is resolved. Identify outstanding information too.
Compare against the actual works plan
Check the lists against the proposal's description, limits, exclusions and phases. Present changes in work or organisation and request confirmation. A review request does not automatically accept an added phase or asset.
RMACHADO can help prepare a quote under Other Insurance for accurately described works. The aim is to show different assets and functions, not validate technical execution, determine participants' liability or decide payment for a particular loss.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
