THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Check the occupation and benefits in your applicable policy version.
- Describe actual duties, dates and journeys.
- Ask for the applicable basis and communication procedure.
Do not automatically copy the general aggravation rule
Article 190 of the Portuguese Insurance Contract Act excludes life insurance from the risk-aggravation regime in Articles 93 and 94. Do not therefore present the general 14-day period as an automatic answer to every life policyholder changing occupation.
The same article also excludes complementary accident and accident-or-illness disability benefits from that regime where aggravation results from the insured person's health. An occupational change should not be confused with that clinical development. Clara asks which benefit and legal basis apply instead of claiming every change is irrelevant or necessarily causes a new rate.
Read the communication provision in your policy
For example, Allianz Vida Crédito 1904–10/2026_01 clause 15(2)(c) provides for written reporting of relevant changes, including occupation, except health changes. This is not a universal rule or a determination of consequences in an individual case.
The library lists that version from 29 October 2026. Tiago checks which version forms part of his policy before using the example. A reporting duty does not let the reader choose the legal consequence of non-compliance or treat Article 190 as displaced by a contractual sentence.

Describe the work you now perform
As a preparation method, Tiago records what changed, when it began and the duties involved: hands-on maintenance, coordination, journeys and frequency of site work. He does not choose a risk class or rely only on an abbreviated job title. If he does not know a frequency, he marks it for confirmation instead of inventing it.
Clara helps frame the question: which record needs updating and how is it considered under the benefits actually purchased? A benefit referring to occupation requires its full definition to be read. A new job title does not by itself establish disability or automatically change the terms.
Keep a response identifying the actual situation
Request confirmation of the recipient, receipt and required procedure. If an amendment is proposed, ask what changes, its basis and effective date, then check the final document. An informal conversation or sending a description does not confirm new terms.
For an existing policy, use policy support and retain the communication history. To compare future protection, select Life under Request a quote on the site. Initial contact does not require clinical reports; request confidential submission instructions where needed. A quotation request neither activates cover nor determines a claim.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
- Check the occupation and benefits in your applicable policy version.
- Describe actual duties, dates and journeys.
- Ask for the applicable basis and communication procedure.
- Keep the response and check any documented amendment.
FROM THE ARTICLE TO YOUR SITUATION
Let us discuss your situation
Tell us what you want to protect. We review your request and help compare relevant terms. Requesting a quotation does not activate insurance.
