THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- APS released cumulative insurance production figures through September; they do not measure the price change of each policy.
- ASF's new dashboard uses reference periods preceding its publication date.
- The forum announced for November is a future event; its conclusions are not yet available.
19 October · the figures released by APS
APS reports direct insurance production of €13.7 billion through September 2026, up 18.1% year on year. Life accounted for €7.2 billion and Non-life for €6.5 billion.
Editorial interpretation: growth across the market does not establish that your own premium increased by the same percentage. To compare a renewal, review its price, cover, insured amounts, excesses and exclusions together.

23 October · a new ASF risk dashboard
ASF published the October edition of its Insurance Sector Risk Dashboard. The financial information refers to 15 September 2026, while insurers' reported data refer to 30 June.
Editorial interpretation: the announcement date and the data's reference date differ. This item records the publication; it does not assign ratings to insurers or replace reading the full dashboard.

22 October · a meeting announced for November
ASF announced its first Insurance Consumer Forum for 20 November 2026, focusing on the value of insurance from the consumer's perspective.
Editorial interpretation: the announcement raises a useful question for your own review — what do you expect from your insurance and which terms support that expectation? We do not anticipate findings or recommendations from an event that has not yet taken place.

Taking these stories into your next conversation
Fictional example: a family reads about growth in the insurance market and then receives its motor renewal notice. Instead of treating the percentage in the news as an explanation for the new price, it compares the two proposals and asks what has changed.
Choose one specific question. It might concern costs when using Health insurance, the excess under Motor insurance or the insured amount under Life insurance. In your request to RMACHADO GROUP, identify the insurance and what you would like clarified; the follow-up conversation provides context for your situation.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
- When was the story published, and which period do the figures cover?
- Am I reading a reported fact, a future announcement or editorial interpretation?
- Which term in my policy do I want clarified before deciding?
- Do I have the renewal notice and current terms ready to compare?
