THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Identify each insured person.
- Check the share for each benefit.
- Separate capital, debt and beneficiary.
Identify each insured person and their share
Fictional example: Rui and Sofia Lobo receive a summary showing a capital amount and both names. With Clara Mota, they ask which proportion is attached to each person and whether it applies in the same way to the benefits presented. They do not assume that two names automatically mean the entire debt is paid after any event. They request the contractual reference explaining the arrangement. The question concerns the quotation’s structure, not a prediction about which person might experience a claim or how that claim would be decided.
Do not confuse the total with each benefit payment
In PRÉVOIR's Vida Domus, the selected share affects the debt-related payment, subject to the product's terms. In your quotation, identify each insured person, amount, share and beneficiary. Ask how these elements relate: the total in a heading is not enough to explain a benefit payment.
Ask the same question twice
To check your understanding, ask the same question for each person: what amount or calculation would apply to the covered event? Then ask how the contract is treated after a possible payment, without assuming the answer. Do not add hypothetical benefits as though they were automatically cumulative. Compare answers at the same dates and for the same benefits. If alternatives use different proportions, flag that difference before concluding that the lower premium buys the same scope. Keep unanswered questions visible in the comparison.
Bring the household objective to the assessment
Want to understand how the insured amount is shared between two people? Read the life insurance guide below and request an assessment from RMACHADO GROUP. Consider the debt and household objectives with each quotation's terms clearly explained.
