THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- All risks does not remove contractual exclusions.
- An inventory absence and confirmed theft are different assertions.
- Check machine identification and custody arrangements before buying insurance.
An express exclusion in a public summary
MAPFRE's machinery-casco product document describes an all-risks base while listing simple theft among exclusions and referring readers to full contractual information. This product example neither classifies an individual machine's disappearance nor establishes a rule for every market offer.
Establish the equipment and last known information
Check machine identification, usage records, authorised movements and the last known location. Distinguish the machine, accessories and other equipment potentially moved to another job or repairer. Do not post precise locations, security routines or complete identifiers to investigate through social media.
Fictional example: a team finds equipment absent from its usual position but does not yet know whether another team transferred it. They record the absence and seek operational information without declaring either transfer or theft as confirmed. Verification should not delay urgent procedures where occurrence indicators exist.
Describe actual worksite custody before buying
Explain where machinery stays, changes between sites and internal procedure responsibilities. Ask the proposal to clarify theft treatment and requirements for that scenario. An answer about operation does not necessarily resolve storage while unused.
For a security condition, request its meaning and applicable scope. Do not declare permanent guarding or devices not implemented. Keep the description and clarifications rather than relying solely on a commercial label.
Report known facts without inventing classification
Follow applicable police and insurer channels and deadlines, retaining references. Record discoveries and traces actually observed. Do not add forced entry, violence or other circumstances to avoid an exclusion; the account must match known facts.
RMACHADO can help prepare a machinery-casco quote around equipment identification and use. An existing occurrence requires its own case assessment. This guide determines neither legal classification, the custodian's responsibility nor entitlement to payment.
