GETTING STARTED

Three points to consider

  • Prepare each machine’s make, model, year, value and use.
  • State work locations, transport and storage conditions.
  • Clarify covered risks, accessories, excesses and exclusions for wear or breakdown.

Every machine needs clear identification

State the type, make, model, year, value and relevant accessories. Explain the work performed, operators and locations of use.

Mobile equipment, site machinery and assets kept at the premises may face different risks. Include hire to third parties or use by other businesses where applicable.

External damage and internal breakdown

The description of the cover does not establish that every breakdown is covered. Ask how external events, internal failure, wear and maintenance are distinguished.

Compare covers, excesses, accessories included and valuation method. Also confirm treatment of loss of use or hire of replacement equipment where relevant.

Transport and storage between jobs

Explain how the machine is moved and where it is kept overnight or during inactivity. Loading, unloading and storage away from the premises may require specific terms.

Before starting work involving different risks, tell the intermediary so continued suitability of protection can be checked.

A question to clarify before deciding

Does the quotation include liability from machinery operation as well as external damage to the machine?

The product examples mentioned in the frequently asked questions illustrate possible differences. They are not an offer from RMACHADO and do not show that a particular cover is included in your policy. Availability, acceptance and terms must be confirmed in the specific quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Are wear and maintenance covered claims?

They should not be assumed covered. Ask for the exclusions and maintenance obligations to be identified.

Does a machine hired to others remain protected?

Third-party use must be declared and accepted in the quotation terms.

Can protection apply while parked?

The offer consulted includes operation and parking. Confirm the specific locations and conditions.

Is third-party damage caused by the machine automatically included?

Liability cover can be included. Check that it has been taken out separately from cover for damage to the machine itself.

Is this assessment limited to construction equipment?

Lusitania’s information includes agricultural, forestry, industrial and construction examples. The particular machine remains subject to assessment.

THE NEXT STEP

A review starts with your details.
