GETTING STARTED
Three points to consider
- Assess accidental death or disability and treatment expenses where available.
- Identify relevant occupational, sporting or leisure activities.
- Check age limits, territory, excesses and exclusions.
Which activity do you want to protect?
Identify the people, ages and activities you want to include. Occasional leisure participation may be treated differently from competition, affiliated sports training or professional work.
Also explain where and how often you participate. An accurate description helps check acceptance and avoid a quotation that does not match actual use.
Separate sums insured for different consequences
Death, accident-related disability and treatment expenses are separate benefits where included. Compare each sum insured, the applicable disability assessment scale and any excesses.
Clarify the definition of accident and how the policy distinguishes accident from illness. Temporary incapacity may not be treated in the same way as permanent disability.
Example: a group taking part in a leisure activity
For a group activity, confirm who is identified and the participation period. Protection for participants and the organiser’s liability for harm are different needs. Ask for confirmation of both before the activity where relevant.
A question to clarify before deciding
Which activities and disability assessment scale are specified in the proposed option?
The product examples mentioned in the frequently asked questions illustrate possible differences. They are not an offer from RMACHADO and do not show that a particular cover is included in your policy. Availability, acceptance and terms must be confirmed in the specific quotation.
What to compare in a quotation
Use these questions to clarify differences that could affect your decision.
| Comparison point | Question to clarify |
|---|---|
| Activity | Are leisure, work and competition included? |
| Disability | Which assessment scale and sum insured apply? |
| Treatment | Is there an excess, network or per-expense limit? |
Frequently asked questions
Does it cover illness too?
Do not assume equivalence. Check the accident definition and specific benefits; health insurance serves a different purpose.
Does it replace occupational accident insurance?
Do not treat personal accident protection as a substitute for the occupational accident framework. The intermediary should assess the activity.
Does the policy cover work and leisure time?
Occupational and non-occupational options exist. Confirm the scope actually selected.
Does permanent disability always result in payment of the full sum insured?
Lusitania’s information provides for calculation according to the degree of impairment and applicable scale. Do not assume full payment.
Do treatment expenses and the disability sum insured serve the same purpose?
They are different benefits. Compare expense reimbursement with the disability benefit without confusing them.
THE NEXT STEP
A review starts with your details.
Prepare the request, check the summary and submit it when correct. A record is created only after final submission; the request does not activate insurance.
