GETTING STARTED
Three points to consider
- Prepare the assets’ description, value and location.
- Share the agreement’s insurance requirements through the specified channel.
- Check risks covered, excesses and treatment of the finance provider.
Read the lease requirement
Identify the asset, agreement, finance provider and transaction period. The finance agreement may specify requirements for covers, the sum insured, excess and beneficiaries.
Share the specific requirement through the channel indicated by the intermediary. Choosing a policy with a similar name is not enough: the requested and offered terms need to be compared.
Equipment value, use and location
Prepare the make, model, year, serial number and value where available. Describe use, operating locations and any movements.
Confirm the valuation basis, accessories and damage events covered. Outstanding debt and the compensable value of an asset may differ.
If the asset changes, protection should be reviewed too
Changes of location, replacement, sale or the end of the lease should be reported so necessary changes can be checked. In a claim, the finance provider’s interest must be handled according to the agreement and policy.
A question to clarify before deciding
Which optional covers are needed for the asset, and which appear in the quotation?
The product examples mentioned in the frequently asked questions illustrate possible differences. They are not an offer from RMACHADO and do not show that a particular cover is included in your policy. Availability, acceptance and terms must be confirmed in the specific quotation.
What to compare in a quotation
Use these questions to clarify differences that could affect your decision.
| Comparison point | Question to clarify |
|---|---|
| Requirement | Does the quotation meet the lease requirements? |
| Sum insured (€) | How is the asset valued if damaged? |
| Finance provider | How is its interest identified in the policy? |
Frequently asked questions
Does insurance automatically pay the outstanding finance balance?
Do not assume a match. The claim payment and finance follow their own terms, which should be compared.
Is breakdown included?
That depends on the covers taken out. External damage, internal breakdown and wear may be treated differently.
Is the lessor’s interest the same as the user’s?
The Fidelidade example consulted seeks to safeguard both. Check how each party and the assets are identified.
Is earthquake cover part of the basic cover?
In the table consulted it is optional. Inclusion must be confirmed in the specific quotation.
Do electronic equipment and machinery have specific covers?
Fidelidade’s information presents options according to the asset. Identify the equipment and confirm the applicable option.
THE NEXT STEP
A review starts with your details.
Prepare the request, check the summary and submit it when correct. A record is created only after final submission; the request does not activate insurance.
