THE ESSENTIALS
Before you start
- Hull value alone does not establish belongings cover.
- Identify items and owners before requesting protection.
- Check limits and insured events in writing.
A product-specific example
MAPFRE's boat insurance page describes personal belongings cover. Its wording includes itemisation and valuation in the proposal, ownership by occupants and a connection with an insured material-damage event, among other conditions. This example belongs to that product.
Do not apply those terms to another policy. Find your own contract's insured-property definition and the clause dealing with belongings carried aboard.

Build a practical inventory
Our suggested fields are item, owner, documented value and usual storage location. Separate boat equipment from belongings brought for each trip. Put anything difficult to classify on a questions list.
Fictional example: a family brings two phones and photography equipment for a weekend. Instead of adding everything to the hull value, they send a list and ask what can be accepted, how to declare it and what value evidence is needed.
Read limits alongside events
Ask about each situation that concerns you, such as accidental damage or an item disappearing. Ask whether cover exists, its item or combined limit, excess and storage requirements. These comparison questions do not imply every situation can be insured.
An answer about «contents» or «equipment» should refer to its policy definition. Record the clause and proposal reference so comparisons use consistent assumptions.
Make renewal specific
Remove belongings no longer carried and add new ones to your review request. Keep inventories and value evidence private; avoid publishing pictures revealing valuables and storage locations.
You can request a quote from RMACHADO with the vessel description and an inventory for consideration. Acceptance, insured risks and limits depend on the proposal and applicable terms.
KEEP THESE QUESTIONS
Your checklist for the next conversation
- Separate boat equipment and personal belongings.
- List each item's owner and documented value.
- Check events, limits, excesses and storage requirements.
- Keep the proposal and confirmation of accepted items.
FROM THE ARTICLE TO YOUR SITUATION
Let us discuss your situation
Tell us what you want to protect. We review your request and help compare relevant terms. Requesting a quotation does not activate insurance.
