GETTING STARTED
Three points to consider
- State the bicycle’s characteristics, value and use.
- Confirm theft, storage and required security conditions.
- Clarify assistance, riding abroad and sporting activities.
The bicycle, accessories and use
State the make, model, year, value and accessories you want included. For an electrically assisted bicycle, describe its technical characteristics too, to confirm the correct classification.
Daily commuting, leisure, competition and professional use should not be treated as equivalent. Explain where you ride and where you store the bicycle.
Theft: storage conditions matter
Where available, theft protection may depend on location, how the bicycle is secured and the security devices used. Ask for specific examples of included and excluded situations.
Confirm how removable accessories, components and the battery are treated. Compare the valuation method, excess and evidence required if a claim arises.
Separate the property, the rider and third parties
Damage to the bicycle, injuries to the rider and harm to others are different risks. A quotation may combine several benefits, but each must be checked. For a ride abroad, add territory and assistance to your comparison questions.
A question to clarify before deciding
Does the option include personal accident cover, and what assistance does it actually provide to the cyclist?
The product examples mentioned in the frequently asked questions illustrate possible differences. They are not an offer from RMACHADO and do not show that a particular cover is included in your policy. Availability, acceptance and terms must be confirmed in the specific quotation.
What to compare in a quotation
Use these questions to clarify differences that could affect your decision.
| Comparison point | Question to clarify |
|---|---|
| Value | How is compensation for the equipment calculated? |
| Theft | What location and securing devices are required? |
| Use | Are competition and business journeys accepted? |
Frequently asked questions
Is the battery automatically included?
Do not assume inclusion. Identify the battery and accessories and check the quotation terms.
Does protection apply outside Portugal?
That depends on each benefit’s territorial scope. Also confirm assistance and participation in events abroad.
Does liability cover protect my own injuries too?
Lusitania’s information distinguishes third-party harm from the cyclist’s personal accident cover. Compare the two benefits.
Does every option include treatment expenses?
In the table consulted, inclusion varies by option. Confirm the benefit and quotation limits.
Does cyclist assistance mean bicycle repair?
Lusitania’s information describes assistance to people. Check the actual services before treating it as equipment repair.
THE NEXT STEP
A review starts with your details.
Prepare the request, check the summary and submit it when correct. A record is created only after final submission; the request does not activate insurance.
